I have been tagged by Melissa from BusinessMums.com to share with you what I think and feel about confidence. Hmmm, thanks Melissa LOL.
Seriously, confidence in ourselves as business women is something I see many working women struggle with. From birth we are conditioned to put the needs of others before our own. We are also taught that nice girls don’t call attention to themselves. So how are we supposed to feel confident in our abilities or in marketing our businesses?
It can be really hard to stand up and say, “I provide a wonderful service to my clients” or “I create beautiful products” when you have been conditioned all your life to think the opposite way.
If you think like this or have people in your life that undermine your confidence, then STOP right now or tell them to shush and be quiet. (My six year old informs me that shuddup is a ‘naughty word’) You need to start thinking positive and to start seeing your accomplishments for what they truely are.
My husband gave me the best compliment a few days ago when I was questioning myself yet again. He said to me, “Kylie, if you wrote down every single accomplishment from the last 10 years, you would run out of space. You have accomplished so much, you should be proud of yourself because I certainly am!”
So next time self doubt or a negative friend starts to pick at your self confidence, stop and take a ‘virtual’ step outside of yourself and the situation. Take a good look at yourself and recognise that you do an excellent job, you are an excellent mother/partner/daughter/friend but it’s your time now to shine and to start beating your own drum.
